Sun loses $2.3 billion in fiscal Q2

Amusing thing is analysts say "Sun Microsystems Inc. on Thursday beat Wall Street's fiscal second-quarter expectations, despite a $2.3 billion loss that largely stemmed from one-time items. For the three months ended Dec. 29, Sun lost 72 cents per share on sales, compared with a loss of 13 cents per share in the same period last year". Scott Mc Nealy (Sun's CEO) on comment said : "The Sun team put in a solid performance this quarter". :confused: :wtf: Is it that I don't understand English at all ? Or what ? My only wonder is how many round of layoffs we are going to see next quarter.

McNealy is a snake. Guess Sun won't be doing dividends... Maybe if they stopped paying their laywers (the Sun Team McNealy refers to) so much in hope of killing Microsoft they could focus on making some money for a change. Maybe if they stopped paying their laywers (the Sun Team McNealy refers to) so much in hope of killing Microsoft they could focus on making some money for a change. I have a friend who works at Sun, and they have already laid off a good percentage of their workforce. Here's a question - if Sun goes broke, who owns Java/J2EE ? Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002

In case you didn't know, IBM has his own implementation of Java/J2EE/J2SE/... In the market, leading vendors are already publicly saying that they (vendors) are to release, starting this year, products compatible with both Microsoft .NET and IBM Websphere. No mention of Sun at all. A year ago, they said Microsoft .NET and Sun J2EE (.ONE).

Ahh but wait, won't Java solve all their problems? I know it solved all of mine. Java solves everything, infact I have recently had it embedded, via Jini, into my toothbrush, thus I can now brush my teeth via RMI. Isn't Java cool? Isn't Sun brilliant?
