These guys don't appreciate how much prosperity this bombing / invasion / occupation thingy will bring to American public. Pretty depressing.. Tens of thousands of antiwar demonstrators converged on Washington yesterday, making a thunderous presence in the bitter cold and assembling in the shadow of the Capitol dome to oppose a U.S. military strike against Iraq... the crowd yesterday on the Mall was the largest antiwar demonstration here since the Vietnam era. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A12152-2003Jan18.html[^]

There, there. How about Saddam bringing prosperity to his people by feeding them palaces and chemical weapons? Clearly, the good guy is submitting himself to the will of Almighty God the merciful.

That whole Middle East area has been causing problems for far too long. And of top of that they think the oil buried below them is theirs alone. If the US could get the Oil prices stabilised at a lower figure for long enough, it would certainly be a benefit to the 1st world. Regardz Colin J Davies

One might hope he was being ironic, but I doubt he was being sarcastic. Of course war will bring prosperity to the USA, at the cost of lives, but they usually send poor black people to the front don't they ? Or has that changed since Vietnam ? In Vietnam, the majority of people given a gun and sent out on foot to kill Vietnamese people were both poor and black. I don't regard either of those things to be an insult, I just found that fact an inditement of the system. If there's one group of people I admire, it's helicopter pilots. That's just dumb. If they join by choice, then colour is surely irrelevant ? Mike Gaskey wrote: The result is that ours is a society that does change in response to healthy internal debate. I did not know that had been changed. I'm pleased it has. I agree with a draft, IF the country is in clear danger. If my country was in danger of being attacked by an external aggressor, I would not like the idea of going to war, but I would imagine that my own freedom is my own responsibility to defend. I may be a month off 34, but I can still think like a 14 year old.... Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002

That whole Middle East area has been causing problems for far too long. And of top of that they think the oil buried below them is theirs alone. If the US could get the Oil prices stabilised at a lower figure for long enough, it would certainly be a benefit to the 1st world. Regardz Colin J Davies

[Sarcasm] Keeping the oil price low is one thing, and the loss of scores of innocent lives is another. If the latter outweighs the former, we’re back to the imperialist colonial era. Also, I doubt this war will bring down the oil price significantly. If anything changes after the mess, it's the share of control over Iraqi oil reserves.. who gets how much of that black gold pie. [/Sarcasm]

One might hope he was being ironic, but I doubt he was being sarcastic. Of course war will bring prosperity to the USA, at the cost of lives, but they usually send poor black people to the front don't they ? Or has that changed since Vietnam ? (Yes, I am also being ironic) Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002
