There didn't need to be any. The fact that Saddam didn't follow through on pledges to destroy materials was enough. The House and Senate knew the last time around that they didn't stand a chance of being elected if they voted against action. So many of those who didn't favor it, took the gutless route and voted for it. Now that the next time they have to face the voters is two years away, those same gutless worms will attempt to force a change. Frankly I would prefer that they all volunteer to be human shields, and show the courage of their convictions - it would certainly clean up the gene pool here in the USA. It would be even better if they took some Hollywood folks with them, maybe Babs / Clooney / Penn and the rest would volunteer. As to “Americans want the President to lay a clear case for immediate military action in Iraq" - I am pleased as punch that mind reading is now a congressional skill. And if the country operated off of CNN / USA today polls virtually nothing would ever happen since apparently opinion changes as fast as MTV music videos. Then, regarding “Our nation’s immediate threat is still Osama bin Laden " he is a grease spot, or not - but it doesn't matter because unless each and every one of his spawn is put to death, then idiots like these two bill sponsors will always always be saying, "but what about . . " Regarding, “Saddam Hussein is a brutal untrustworthy tyrant, but he is being contained" who says he has been contained? Does anyone believe that material or money he controls is not being actively used against the US? The inspectors were to verify that Saddam and Iraq destroyed the weapons and materials - not find where they are hidden. That verification required cooperation, which has not been given. =====> nearing the end of the rant If these people were live at the time of the revolution, we would be speaking with a Brittish accent.         i believe congress still has to vote on giving GWB the money to pay for the war. what he has now is the ability to start the (or re-start the 1991) war. once it starts, though, it will be very hard to refuse to fund since that could endanger US (and other) troops; and it would force a retreat of sorts (which wouldn't look good).

Of course I'm an idealist, I'd like to see democracy brought to every country in the world and religion taken out of all government systems... but the only way to do that is using a big stick which would make me as bad as they are. From what I've seen, Iraq isn't threatening the US, but rather is posing problems that should be taken care of by the UN instead.
