Hey folks, my wife is an engineer working for a large company that has offices in Madrid and Grenoble. Luck has it that she (with ME!!!) may have an option to relocate to either one of these cities for 12 to 18 months. I’ve personally been to Grenoble a few times and absolutely loved the city and the people. But, she and I have never been to Madrid. That being said; I’d love to hear your opinions about which would be the “better” place to live for a year and half. BTW: We will be traveling with 2 large dogs. I’d like to hear if that would cause any problems beside the obvious difficulties involved with quarantine and licensing. "Veni, Vidi, Booyah!" - Ceasar

I've never been to Madrid, but I did spend some time in Spain's Basque country (Bilbao and Vitoria). Fantastic! Mike Mullikin

Chris Austin wrote: How was the hikking? I imagine it's awesome in the Basque country since it's located in the Pyrennes and it's foot hills. Madrid is located in the central plateau but it's not like the US great plains. There are still plenty of mountain ranges around it (Ibérico, Albarrancín, Guadarrama and Gredos). If you dress them up in a Sunday church dress and call them Martha and Agatha you should be able to pass right through quarantine without a second look. Of course you do know that canine is a speciality in many parts of Spain don't you? Speciality in the culinary sense... Ok, so maybe it's about time we took the piss out the Spanish for a change? And I was joking about the whole food thing... that's France - they'll leat anything with four (or less) legs. ;P Serious answer? Where the hell is Grenoble? :~

I always found the center of Madrid hot dusty and smelling of fumes. (Maybe its changed) The only downside to Grenoble is its location I guess. (France) But they do have a rugby team so that is a redeeming feature I guess. Regardz Colin J Davies

I have never been to Grenoble, but I can asure you that Spain is great (Well, maybe my opinion is a little biased but...). Besides, is you already know Grenoble, you should try a new place. And you won´t have any special problem with your dogs, as long as you have all the papers and vaccines. Silver at last!!
