Spam, or not?
-
I'm confused on this one. The link in the answer from this OP would clearly be marked as spam, but because the OP has existed since 2005, I'm curious if this is a CodeProject supporter who pays for advertising and whether it is OK for them to be posting the commercial links in Q&A answers and such. Can anyone shed some light on this one, or is it simply a spam account that has managed to survive for a lengthy period of time? OP: http://www.codeproject.com/script/Membership/View.aspx?mid=2362051[^] Answer in question: How to obfuscate source code of dll ?[^]
I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.
Personally I don't think it is spam as it offered as a potential solution to the question.

I'd say definitely not spam. There doesn't seem to be any link between this user and the vendor, and they have been active on the boards for a long time.

Dave KreskowiakOh dear. This seems to be overzealous. If the solution to a problem is genuinely available through third party software, we shouldn't really be punishing the poster for it.

I'm not so sure now - I've just done a search on this user, just looking for his answers, and they all seem to link back to Crypto.... products.

I've removed a number of the users posts. 10 posts in a single day linking to his product (regardless of how relevant the topic might be) is a no-no. I vaguely recall speaking to this individual before about these postings, and I will do so again before I reconsider activating the account.
Thanks, Sean Ewington CodeProject

Ah. And I see Sean has had a good look. I couldn't check his other messages as his account was gone.
