I noticed something today that I find annoying with Windows 8.1. It may be in effect in Windows 8 as well. A file association is forced when I do an Open With from Windows Explorer when that file doesn't already have an association. Windows 7 and prior had an option for making the application the default. That option would make the file association. Windows 8.1 has no option, it creates the association and you have to get rid of it manually. The option appears only if there is already an association. Is there a way to restore the behavior? It may seem trivial, but I don't want unnecessary file associations.
