Usama Bin Laden once just "disliked" the US. As long as you keep bombing people away on other continents and keep insisting on being present where the heat is while trying to cash in on it, there will be trouble. For every bomb and every military unit present, a disliker will become a hater. You'll have to keep bombing and bombing till there is no one left to bomb. When you're done, you might was well put some asphalt on all of middle east and make runways of it or whatever, because there will be on one left after you've killed all terrorists. Back off and accept that you can't have all the assets in the middle east without being constantly attacked by haters. It's really simple. Please note that I'm not taking anyones side here, so don't go label me as a terrorist supporter. I'm really trying to be objective here. But I bet you'll think I'm left wing scum anyway :) -- Uh huh. Yeah.

First of all I dont think anyone who can support their views is scum. Scum to me is people that rattle information off and have never really actually thought about it. Most of the Celeberties (IMO) It is a hard decision. And I understand what you are saying. But I really think they dislike us for our support over Israel more than anything else. And I completely agree with our support for Israels right to have a State. Furthur more, if someone is a murderer lets say in America, you still send police after them, you dont take a step back, and stop arresting Murders hoping that that will stop them. That was probably a piss poor anology, it sounder better in my head. Michael Shuster Good judgement comes from experience; Experience comes from bad judgement.

Not if by lowering them you create more business. Then there is more money coming in to pay taxes on ie more tax dollars. We wont know it it worked or not for about ten years though. Michael Shuster Good judgement comes from experience; Experience comes from bad judgement.

Not if by lowering them you create more business. This is a fiction. The lower taxes simply makes rich people richer. Greenspan also pointed out that once interest rates start rising, the interest on our debt starts rising. That's sustainable at the 1% of GPD, but Bush's proposed budget deficit is 3% of GPD. Not good. It's going to really cost us later. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

That might be your fair estimate, but there are plenty of numbers that I could rattle off too. Like I said we wont know for about ten years if it paid off or not. Debt isnt always bad. I bought a house, which means I am going to be in debt for about half of my life. But I would rather not be living with my parents debt free. I would rather have debt and a better standard of life. That might be your fair estimate, but there are plenty of numbers that I could rattle off too. Please do! The $100B is a slightly rounded figure from the government's own estimate of $95B. If you can't trust the government, whom can you trust? Don't answer that. BTW, I'm not picking on you--it's an interesting discussion I'm stepping into the middle of. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

Michael Shuster wrote: But I really think they dislike us for our support over Israel more than anything else. And I completely agree with our support for Israels right to have a State. Ah yes, the Israeli conflict. I too support an Israeli state, I really do. They deserve a country just as much as anybody else. However, I really don't like the right wing extremist that's in charge down there. If I'm not mistaken, the situation was pretty cool before he got into power. Some more massaging of both sides, and the problem could have been solved. Sharon and the extremists in Israel is basically giving the palestinians the same treatments Hitler gave German jews. It's not hard to see why there is such a conflict there right now. Being pushed away from land where you've lived all this time and fenced into ghettos are most likely not most pleasant experiences you can have. And given the fact that both judaism and islam are religions where "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" is the motto of the day, the horrors being commited there is not surprising. I think that Bush should, IMHO, show some balls and put pressure on Sharon just as much as he has on Arafat. None of them are angels. Peace in Israel would mean a lot for the stability in the middle east. If it does indeed happens, the only wackos left would be Bin Laden & co. But I imagine that if Israel/Palestine is in a peaceful state, all the other arab countries would be much more forthcoming to root out the terrorists. I may of course be totally wrong on this one. Michael Shuster wrote: Furthur more, if someone is a murderer lets say in America, you still send police after them, you dont take a step back, and stop arresting Murders hoping that that will stop them. To stretch this analogy a bit, I ask, what would you do if there are more murderers than there are people of law and order? This is a silly question, I know, but what would you do? Michael Shuster wrote: That was probably a piss poor anology, it sounder better in my head. It didn't sound that piss poor. However, I think the problem is slightly larger than having one murderer. It's more like having millions of them. -- Uh huh. Yeah.

OK. I owe a shitload in federal taxes this year. I don't want to pay it. I think it goes mostly corrupt politicians and poorly adminstrated federal programs. I don't believe in going to war with Iraq. I just can't justify a 95 BILLION $$$ price tag against anything that Saddam can do, and this doesn't factor in the indirect costs of higher fuel bills and the ripple effect that will have. I think Bush is an idiot when he says this will stabilize the region. Everything I've heard about the Turks, the Kurds, the Iranians, the Saudis, etc., points to more instability, not less. I don't want to pay my taxes to a corrupt government system, a president I didn't vote for, and a war I don't want. Anything I can do? I'm looking for legal, constructive thoughts here, guys (OK, that's contradictory to posting this in the soapbox, but still, it's worth a try). Marc Help! Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

The enabling legislation for federal income taxes states, "the Secretary of the Treasury shall assess and you shall pay . . . " - if you haven't been assessed, you (theoretically) do not need to pay. When you fill out your 1040 you are self assessing. Nothing in the law tha requires you to do so. If you'll look in you 1040 instructions, you'll see penalties for: 1) filing late, 2) filing fraudently - but not for not filing. Of course the IRS takes a different view. Mike

What is a "threat"? A big man in a dark alley with a knife against your throat? A knife salesman? A knife in a store?
