As some of you know, one of my major clients is a boatyard here in Connecticut. My hours just got cut back significantly (from 20 a week to 5) which is a major impact on my budget. Being a major full service boatyard, we have some pretty rich clients. The owner of the boatyard has been talking to them, and they are mostly (if not all) conservative Republicans. It was interesting to note that he said that even these guys think Bush is an idiot. It should also be noted that these same people pointed out that the best thing for the economy right now would be to back off from the war. Apparently there is so much money sitting out there waiting for better economic conditions to invest back into the market, but it's simply not going to happen with the threat of war. Needless to say though, there's not a lot of business being generated by the boatyard right now, mostly due to the economic conditions and the threat of war. Of course, it didn't help that there weren't any major storms either to cause boat damage. Well, at least the adult entertainment business seems to be rocking! Time to pay attention to my other client. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

yeah but did you talk with any of them before the election? The rich conserviative republicans i know (ok that's not very many... ok it's three! ) were certain that Bush would be better for the economy than Gore. the media should use recorded statements of politicians to point out how "wrong" they were 1 or 2 years ago when they predicted the future!! Hell you have to watch the Daily Show to ever see that information and then it's reduced to "comedy". It's NOT funny!! (ok it's really funny) It's valuable information that most people never see/hear or pay any attention to. And so I wake in the morning And I step outside And I take a deep breath and I get real high And I scream at the top of my lungs What's going on? 4 non-blonds

That's the theory. The Republican assumption is that it's going to be a quick and clean war. Never mind the Turks, the Kurds, the fact that Iran is probably going to try and snag a slice of Iraq, and the political and environmental cleanup that's going to have to occur. And our illustrious leader actually believes this is going to stabilize the Arab-Israeli conflict??? Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

What I should say is that I don't really care about it one way of the other. I have been in favor of going to war with the entire damned middle east since 9/11. I have never bought into the notion that Islam is a peaceful religion. It isn't. The entire region is full of iron-age morons and badly needs to be cleaned up. Taking Iraq out, and chasing a few terrorist from cave to cave just doesn't do it for me. "Any clod can have the facts, but having opinions is an art." Charles McCabe, San Francisco Chronicle
