Well, all I can say is thank goodness CP is back!!!! :-D I don't know how long it's been back for, due to a day of turmoil. But I hope everyone has settled back in and is breathing again. On to the day of turmoil. We (husband and I) know this guy from back home in SA. He is a network dude, 22 years of age, 2 years experience. Anyway, when he said he wanted to come over and travel a bit as well we were more than happy for him to come and stay with us for a bit* while sorting himself out. That was last July. So the guy is living happily rent free in our lounge (as we are travelling and don't want to accumulate a lot we are living in a one bedroom flat). Keep in mind, we have been married for just over a year, privacy is important to us. But that's not the bit that ruined my day. My boss, kind soul that he is, took pity on the guy and said he should come and work here for a couple of weeks for a bit of cash, but more importantly to get a UK reference, which appears to be the problem with finding work for him. (He did work in a cheese factory in Somerset for 3 months last year) So he comes along to work with me, and things are going well. Till yesterday, at which point he decided to nuke our network. All is now well, except our Exchange server which we eventually gave up on, and have spent the day rebuilding it :(( :(( :(( Thanks for listening to me rant fellow CPians - aint it great to have our life support back! :) * 1 month or so

But I am fantastic in bed! And there are gorgeous women in all the houses I pass. And it would be wrong to leave them unsatisfied! So spam is the only way... - Paul Watson

Thing is in the last three weeks the so called First World that is London has been doing some daft stuff. Three power failures in the Parsons Green area, the ISP has been on the blink everyday at least and some guys we sub-let office space out to fell over the server (it is in the farthest, remotest, tiniest corner of the. In a server rack. But he still managed to fall over it.) So all SA email has been going nuts. Thanks for listening Frasier...

Glad to hear you have the damage under control. Did you ever learn just what he did to nuke it? It isn't hard to destroy Exchange Server - it's borderline unstable at best. But to wipe out a whole network takes rare talent! Maybe you can find him a job with your largest competitor...:-D It is ok for women not to like sports, so long as they nod in the right places and bring beers at the right times.

Reminds me of something I was playing with the other day - I set up windows media encoder to stream the sound output of winamp over the internet and had pocket media player on my phone connected to it playing the audio (at roughly AM radio quality) It amused me to think how far the data was travelling just to get the 3 feet distance between my computer and my phone -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!
