http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A52341-2003Mar6.html Military Tax Bill Pulled The bill was originally designed to give several tax breaks to members of the armed services, including reservists called to duty. About two weeks ago, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas (R-Calif.) told Republican and Democratic members they could use the $482 million tax bill as a vehicle to add other tax provisions that had failed in previous efforts. Several Republicans responded with targeted items, including a repeal of the excise tax on fishing tackle boxes, a simplification of the excise tax on bows and arrows, and elimination of taxes imposed on foreigners who bet on U.S. horse races. Damn, jus when I wuz ah eyein that thar new fangled tackle box.

You could ask a few of your international CP friends to bet on races for you. Split the tax savings with them and I'll bet they'll jump at the chance!:-D It is ok for women not to like sports, so long as they nod in the right places and bring beers at the right times.

Maybe losers can be written off as a bad investment. And we can eat while we watch the horses run and get another deduction for a business lunch. Wow, we'll never pay taxes again!

[sarcasm] Lets face it, if these miltary types are prepared to die for your country, they probably won't mind too much paying taxes. [/sarcasm] Regardz Colin J Davies
