I was furious when I first saw this. Then a coworker sent an email about how to disable it. The following RegKey will help: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security Add the string value "Level1Remove", and put in it all the file extensions you want to be able to open. Here's a list I was given: ade;adp;bas;bat;chm;cmd;com;cpl;crt;exe;hlp;hta;inf;ins;isp;js;jse;lnk;mda;mdb;mde;mdz;msc;msi;msp;mst;pcd;pif;reg;scr;sct;shs;url;vb;vbe;vbs;wsc;wsf;wsh Chris Richardson You can stash and you can seize In dreams begin, responsibilities

Thats why zip is even out of the question. ;P At least Outcantlook 2000 pops up the ugliest dialog I have ever seen, still allowing the user to save the file. To make it worse all these damned PC's are running Norton AV. And we know what that means... (well this is what I notice). When you extract files from a selfextracting archive it goes and makes all the files READ ONLY. Really great for those database files you included with your "zip". I rated this article 2 by mistake. B/c I just thought of another way to do it. I like InnoSetup[^], it's free. Make a setup .exe to execute the .reg. Make sure you name it Install.exe or Setup.exe, now .zip it. Tell the user to open the .zip and click the "Install" button. Winzip automaticlly adds the Install button if it detects a Setup or install.exe. :| Later,
