For the last too weeks it had been taking up to twenty three attempts to connected (yes I log them, for my own reference) - but tonight has topped even that. I've heard the BT robot tell me "the number you have dailed is busy" (aka "we have still charged you four pence for this call") thirty nine times. :(( Can I never escape BT's legacy?

      Yes, leave UK :-D

I'm sorry about our waffling on Iraq. I mean, when you're going up against a crazed dictator, you wanna have your friends by your side. I realize it took more than 2 years before you guys pitched in against Hitler, but that was different. Everyone knew he had weapons

Problem? What problem? Works fine in the Nottingham area, occasionally takes a few attempts at c. 8:00 p.m. otherwise OK (ish). I normally get in on my 1st attempt!

Haven't you heard the rumours? Word has it that Robin of Loxly has tapped the local villages into the countries main Internet backbone so they can launch a massive DOS attack on www.inlandrevanue.gov.uk. :suss:
