La Jolla, CA and Limerick, Ireland — July 21, 2014 — the University of Limerick (UL) is joining forces with MadCap Software to ensure students pursuing its Technical Communication and E-Learning Master of Arts Degree have a clear competitive lead when entering the workforce. The university is taking advantage of MadCap Flare—the state-of-the art, future-proof technical authoring and multi-channel publishing software that supports print, Web, desktop and mobile—to provide students with the most advanced authoring and publishing solution available today. As a result, students are building expertise in modern technical writing techniques through hands-on experience with the software used by thousands of companies across the globe. The University of Limerick is dedicated to providing technical communication students with innovative tools and practices that will help enrich their skillsets and position them for thriving careers. Currently, the University of Limerick is using MadCap Flare in its "MA in Technical Communication and E-Learning” course to help students generate online Help and eBook projects based on topics. The course uses an eBook framework to help guide teaching of the tool itself. Today, some 90% of students in the course are using Flare to create eBooks, which also have proven to be attractive projects to present during professional interviews. Looking ahead to spring 2015, the University of Limerick plans to take advantage of the XML capabilities in Flare to create new outputs and extend best practices for creating Help guides. "Our students love how intuitive MadCap’s software is; they were able to rapidly and independently learn the tool using resources readily available. Out of the box, MadCap Flare is immediately easier to engage with than any other Help programs I have worked with,” said Dr. Ann Marcus-Quinn, University of Limerick lecturer in Technical Communication and director of a Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing program (distance learning).” Dr. Marcus-Quinn added, “The ability to quickly and easily create eBooks has proven to be a favorite among our students. The coolest part is that they can use their Flare projects as examples during professional interviews, demonstrating best design principles for online delivery and industry standards. We are excited to continue expanding our use of Flare capabilities to enhance our student skills and generate new outputs.” “We are thrilled by University of Limerick's spirited success in adopting MadCap Flare to help students design
