As long as there's no state regulation, the market is sadly the only element which can push car industries to search for an alternative. I thought that California was a pionneer in the regulation of the pollutions emitted by cars. Is it always true?

I think another factor is style and HORSEPOWER.;P It has always been my belief that the vehicle people drive is a direct reflection of their personality. (Those who don't agree are obviously lacking one.) If the mere point of the vehicle is to get from point A. to point B., well a moped will do the trick. We need alternate fuels that will not only be efficient, but will provide the POWER most auto enthusiasts desire. I am all for alternative fuel vehicles, but I would never trade up my 300ZX for a 40MPH top-speed electric vehicle. (All IMO of course ;P ) - Nitron
