How pertinent is the UN with Libya the head of the Human Rights Commision

Just sitting here shaking my head wondering what people think about Libya becoming the head of the UN Human Rights Commision? Just thinking this is further proof that the UN is becoming more a debating society, than a group of peope in touch with the real world. Stupid and Sad .... things like that are part of the reason that a lot of Americans worry about the idea of the US surrendering its autonimy to the UN. Look at what happened when the US military forces in Somolia were placed under UN control. Personally I like the idea of the UN, but in reality I don't think it works very well except as a humanitarian organization.
