I was just looking at the profile page and It just hit me. We already are asking users to provide their twitter handle so that we can redirect the visitors to their twitter accounts. Why not have a small portion on this page showing the members twitter feed. A small Javascipt app embedded in this page which will just use the members twitter handle and pulls out the latest tweets. Perhaps there are some plugins that are already available for integration.

I'm not sure what it would add to the site. People have lives and opinions outside of programming that don't always fit in with a programming site. We'd essentially be republishing a firehose of unmoderated content that may be inappropriate.

True, but what harm could it do if it's only visible on the profile page of the user (I think that's what the OP intended ), something like the last 10 public tweets of the user, so that the person viewing the profile can get an idea of what the twitter account is putting out there and decide right there if he wants to follow or not. I think the beer is getting to my head, cause I can't believe I actually just defended the use of twatter, time for a cold shower (freaking heater is out of order so no choice on that ) :)

I don't think this is a good idea. When I am posting in twitter, it can be any content from my foolish jokes to my personal opinion on politics. Some may not like it and it will result unnecessary flame war.

          cheers,
