Condemn an entire nation based on your suspicions about the acts of a handful of it's citizens For example, Iraq? How many Iraqis were on the suicide planes on 9/11? None, but the mayor of Salem, OR said she supported the war against Iraq because a lot of the hijackers were from there. Recent opinion polls show that about 2/3 of Americans agree with her. Here's a poll from early January showing 50% believe the hijackers were Iraqis. I know there was a later one that had it up in the 60s but I can't find the link right now. You said: "she supported the war against Iraq because a lot of the hijackers were from there. Recent opinion polls show that about 2/3 of Americans agree with her." #1 - The polls says 21% thought "most" were Iraqis. Not 50% and not 66%! #2 - The same poll also said the following that you chose not to mention: A robust majority of Americans - 83 percent - would support going to war if the United Nations backed the action and it was carried out by a multinational coalition. But without U.N. approval and allies, only about a third of the public would support a war with Iraq. Many survey respondents said President Bush had not effectively explained why military action might be required. Nearly 1 in 5 said they still did not believe that Iraq posed a serious threat to the United States. Most Americans do not want to rush into war. Sixty-eight percent of the respondents said the United States should continue to work toward achieving its goals in Iraq without war. Only 27 percent favored quick military action. #3 - They polled only 1204 people! 1204!!! Let's see 1204 divided by 270,000,000 equals .00000446 or .000446%!!! And you're preaching this crap??!! :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: Mike Mullikin

The mayor of Salem, OR said "a lot". I was quoting her. #1 - The polls says 21% thought "most" were Iraqis. Not 50% and not 66%! Plus 23% thought "some" were Iraqis plus 6% thought "one" was an Iraqi. 21+23+6=50 back when I went to school. 50% of the poll respondents thought that one or more Iraqis were hijackers in 9/11. None were. FYI: Perhaps they didn't teach statistics where you went to school, but a sample size of 1204 is considered statistically valid and the firm that did the research is quite reputable. Only 17% knew it was none. Egads!! I don't know where it was, but I've heard up to 70% thought there were Iraqi highjackers. Which is pretty damn embarassing. X| The question on this survey isn't even loaded, which I was hoping to see. I was shocked though, because nobody I know admits to believing this, so I'm not sure where these misinformed people are, but as you said below 1024 is taken to be a fair sampling. It's all marketing. If we can sell pizza by flying men in ugly capes, why shouldn't we sell a war by vague associations? Sheesh, these liberals.... ;)
