    Yesterday on TV there were interviewing a guy who is American POW from Gulf War I who is suing the Saddam for the treatment he received when he was held for 15 days. :eek: He said a there was law which was passed in Senate, which allows American POWs to sue the terrorist organizations for any ill treatment. I googled but didn't find the exact law..Anybody knows about it? Don't :beer: and drive.

      I can't remember where I read it, but I have heard the same thing. How's he going to sue a man who 1) doesn't give a damn, and 2) will be dead soon? -- Tune your mind, reach inside, peel away Touch, Taste, Feel, Saturation

          I don't understand. Can a person in country A sue a person in country B which has its own laws? And country A and country B are not even under some kind of treaty which allows this. Like you have treaties for copyright and stuff. And is the law which the American POW speaking about only for American POWs? I mean can only the American POWs sue the terrorist organizations, and no one else? And has it already been proven that Saddam and his gang is a terrorist organisation, technically? If they are terrorists, he's not a POW, right? He's just an ordinary citizen, who also happens to be a soldier. And he was outside the US territory when it happend. Come to think of it, he was in Saddam's land. Can he be sued for tresspassing? :laugh: Can Saddam pass a law which allows him to sue people who come to his country and fire bullets and bombs and missiles at him and his people? And if he does, can he sue the Americans? In which court? Iraqui court? :laugh: I think the lawyer this POW has been consulting is nuts. Kant wrote: Don't :beer: and drive. Experience? ;P

            return (A=='USA')

            Seriously, though, that's exactly what "silly old europe" is trying to do, on a global level, through UN, ICC, etc. However, there are some countries that are deeply afraid of joining in, including rogue states like Lybia, Iran, USofA, etc. Technically, if the law of country B allows citizens of country A to sue, there's no "legal" problem.
