Does anyone have any guesses why virtually every Microsoft related conference this year was/is in Orlando? Just off the top of my head I know Tech*Ed, PDC, and VS-Live are in Orlando, but I'm sure there are more of them. I think they had an SQL Server conference there too (but I could be wrong). If I never see International Drive again it will be too soon :

Maybe Bill likes SeaWorld, or maybe the beaches down that way are particularly fine :P

I can think of a few reasons: 1. Relatively nice weather. 2. It's a more central location for European and Latin American attendees. 3. Mickey Mouse (Disney World). 4. King Kong (Universal Studios). 5. Shamu (Sea World). 6. The water parks. 7. Busch Gardens (in Tampa). 8. International drive. 9. Microsoft got a really good deal on local convention center(s) and hotel rooms. 10. It gives Microsoft employees an extra incentive to go -- they can stay afterwards for vacation.

Well, you certainly bring up good points. I know from years of exhibiting at these things that conference planners do try and find venues that will encourage spousal participation, and without question Disney is a big draw. So I suppose I can see the reason for having a conference in Orlando, but whole smokes not all conferences! I guess I'm moaning a bit because I would really like them to move the conference around a bit. Half of the enjoyment of a conference for me is getting together with a group of like minded people and taking in what a city has to offer. I love San Francisco for example, but I've been to enough conferences there now that the city holds no mystery anymore. A year or two ago a conference was held in New Orleans, but alas I couldn't attend. That's a spot I'd love to visit. Or how about Texas. I don't think I've ever seen a conference there, but they have a booming hi-tech industry. How about Research Triangle, NC? That would be cool too. Please, a little variety

WinDev East is in Boston and next year's Microsoft TechEd is in Atlanta. Also the PDC moves around quite a bit. Not held every year, the one previous to this year's Orlando conference was held in Denver
