    ZDNet[^]:

Who's ready for the next long-term support version of Ubuntu? There's something new here whether you use Ubuntu on the desktop, server, cloud, smartphone, tablet, or mainframe. Yes, mainframe.

Just in time for the Year of Linux!

Today I learned: what a "Xerus" is.

It's funny that they're promising long term support on a product that may well find itself tied up in license litigation. The Register - Canonical accused of violating GPL...[^]

Oh good, I was hoping that popcorn fest wasn't going to blow over.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies. -- Sarah Hoyt

Before upgrading be sure to update & upgrade the components on your current version and backup your system *before* upgrading to 16.04. Otherwise, the upgrade may fail and you'll be glad you have a backup. That happened to me several times before I figured-out that magic sauce --- I've a VM and took snapshots (:->)
