Marking this bug report as WONTFIX -- works as expected when tested on my local planet environment.

Interesting that "computer glitch" got translated to "software". It could very well be that the software did exactly what it was supposed to do, but was given "bad" information by the hardware. (Though I do suspect a combination of the two.)
