His voice echoed in the empty cave... :laugh: Unfortunately, many of us have found that we cannot predominantly do desktop dev. I do still work on some desktop apps but more and more they are a pain to deploy and they should really just be implemented as web apps or at least WPF / UWP or something.

Ridiculous. I've been doing desktop dev for 30+ years and will continue to so. There is no shortage of work out there.

Who still predominantly codes for the desktop for a living?
This questions comes up all the time. Right now I'm working on a WPF app for a medical device. Before that I did a WPF app for automotive diagnostics. Before that a WPF app for the chiropractic industry. Before that a WPF for the construction industry, before that.... ... and on and on and on... For 30+ years I've been doing desktop apps. There still are and always will be desktop apps. Some apps have no reason to be and never will be web apps.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is. Everything makes sense in someone's mind. Ya can't fix stupid.

Seems like you meant to post this in the Lounge, not Insider News. Been there, done that. :) As to your question, I am currently coding projects in/with/for/on: ASP.NET/Razor Misc web applications (my own back-end server and a few 3rd party Javascript client frameworks) Desktop utilities in C# Server-side DLL plugins / WCF WPF desktop app WinForm (using DevExpress) desktop apps Beaglebone Single Board Computer in Python It's interesting when I list that, as I often enough touch every one of those projects in a single day. So, "predominantly" doesn't really exist for me, it's pretty much all over the map. Marc

I'm predominately desktop myself (and very much hope to be until I retire) but there's clearly less desktop work around than there used to be and I don't see anything remotely ridiculous about raddevus' comment.
