Web development Editor

O.k., I realize this question is very general, but I'd like some input from you all on this topic: Background: I recently started my own web site on AngelFire to become more familiar with web development. Originally used Multi-Edit for Windows and just outright hacked all my HTML code manually. Realized this was taking far to long and was too difficult to implement style sheets within a reasonable amount of time, so I switched to FrontPage 2000. Problem with FP, as you may know, is that it wants you to use FrontPage Extensions on the server. While AngelFire does have FP Extensions, they have done a very poor job of managing and maintaining that technology. Therefore, my site "breaks" at least once a day, when the services stop running (this last time, it was two months). I realize this is a "free" hosting site, but even a free site doesn't do you any good, if you cannot use it for that which it was intended. :(( Request: I just want to develop a nice looking, clean website, using some of the newer technologies, and am looking for a good website development tool that will allow me to to this, without spending the rest of my natural life writing code for it. Can you recommend a strong, clean, simple web development tool that is easy enough to quickly create web pages with graphics, menu bars, etc..., but powerful enough to use Java, ASP and database technologies. I thought FP2000 was it, I think I was mistaken. X| Chris, if you happen to read this message, what are you using to do Code Project? Thank you for your input, :) D.

Aaron, thank you kindly for the response, I believe I have a demo copy of Dreamweaver on one of my Max. PC CD's, I'll check into it and see how it is. Thanks again for the suggestion, :-D D.

Douglas, I agree with Aaron! Get yourself a copy of Dreamweaver from Macromedia. I bought the Dreamweaver/Fireworks 3.0 package and couldn't be happier. It can be as simple or complex a tool as you want to make it.:-D Good Luck! "What a long, strange trip it's been!" - R. Hunter Paul Lyons
