    TechSpot[^]:

OpenAI's conversational AI bot ChatGPT has quickly become a viral sensation with its ability to write stories, compose emails, and generate code. However, a new report now suggests that it costs OpenAI an ungodly amount just to keep it running daily.

So about $50 per bad line of code?

So... if it costs $700k/day to operate... how much are they earning with its operating?

i think the need to fix their operating cost or they become a sink hole for the billions microsoft is pumping in ..just to generate some text in a browser for the masses..

No wonder it's so hyped. They need really aggressive marketing to return their money

They earned $10bn from MS recently.

Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius

Let's get a sense of proportion here. We are talking about $250 million dollars a year, which for companies the size of Microsoft isn't even a big line item. The $10 billion that they just received from Microsoft could keep ChatGPT running for 40 years. I'd call that a well-funded project, wouldn't you?
