I am working on VC++ SDK programming for the past 4 months and am much impressed with it. But I am into customisations rather than development. I have recently bought Petzold : Program. Windows. but learning VC seems to be a lengthy proposition and I have a year of Web Programming exp. in Java. Can u guys help me in this dilemma , is it ok if I dive into Windows prog. or maybe system(C) programming. I have done my bachelors in Computer Science. Regards:):)

hello, i am a student myself and can exactly understand what your question is.. VC++ is going to be around for a long long time. You might wanna get some hands on experience in C++ essentials like polymorphism, Stream and IO operations, STLs etc. Then i would suggest that you move on MFCs and finally work on COM programming involving ATL components and ActiveX controls. Even i have the Petzold book. Its a great book for learning the Win32 API. If you are interested in the .NET technology, you should get hold of Programming Microsoft .NET by Jeff Prosise. Great Book. hope this helps. regards, Mithun.

Hey, I am currently a student, senior year college. This summer I picked up Petzold Windows Programming and started going into it. I do it because I am interested and would like to pursue in the Windows direction; however I know I still have much more to learn about the theory and databases and things like that.. that actually makes a program run. I have the fear of time running out too soon. -Pizzaman -It's like blowing up an abortion center because you are pro life.
