I have wondering for a while what is the difference between The Lounge and The SoapBox. Perhaps my question comes from the fact that if I know what a Lounge is, I don't why a message board is called SoapBox. Is it somehow connected with soap opera ? Callixte.[^]

The lOunge = cheerful banter Soapbox = ranting / politics / topics of questionable taste To get on one's soapbox, means to vocalize your grievance or rant at some length about a pet peeve, or other such thing. Generally done in a way that comes across as the speaker being "above it all" (although thats not really necessary). Not the best definition but there you have it. A nutshell.

[sarcasm] That's it. I'm fed up with all these ferf's that haven't got a *ucking clue. The Soapbox is for letting it all go. No holds barred. Say what you want, retard. Let them have it with both barrels, numbnuts. The lounge on the other hand is just somewhat more sedate. And the language is *supposedly* for everyone, including your younger sister. [/sarcasm] Make sense? Chris Meech If you spin a Chinese person around, do they become dis-oriented?

A soap box is exactly that (edit) A box that bars of soap come in (/edit). It used to be a big wooden crate that people used to stand on in Town squares when they were yelling their opinions. So the Soapbox forum is somewhere you can go to express your opinions. :)

actually its a bit more detailed than that. the soap box is what convicted criminals used to stand on in london at speakers corner. this was their last chance to say what they wanted before they were hung. however, due to english law they were not allowed to say certain things on english land, so therefore they used to stand on a soapbox...
