How do you sell 1 ounce of water for $7.95 + $5.00 shipping? Click here to find out.....[^] From their website: The mist creates a micro-environment of pure, all-natural, unpolluted, pH correct humidity around the face......The water is naturally pure, certified sterile and contaminant-free as it emerges from the ground

Yeah. Sad isn't it? They have a full-blown TV ad campaign going. They are spending millions trying to sell people water you spray in your face!

Maybe it's an indication that we're on the wrong business.. :~ They're probably making lots of money selling water. I wonder what the profit margin is on the product. 70-80%? -- Ofra Haza: R.I.P

Jörgen Sigvardsson wrote: I wonder what the profit margin is on the product. 70-80%? If you took advertising out of the equation, I would guess that the margin is more like 95%. Figure the cardboard packaging would cost around 8 cents per unit, the plastic squeeze bottle would probably cost around 20 cents. The water itself probably costs less than 1/10 of 1 cent per ounce for a total of less than 30 cents per ounce packaged. They charge $5 shipping per ounce. The cost in the USA to ship 1 ounce of material is only 37 cents. Figure another 25 cents per unit for internal shipping (from the plant to the warehouse). I'm guessing the total expenses (excluding advertising) at around 92 cents for a sale price of $12.95! But they are spending millions on a full-blown TV ad campaign that is probably adding up to a net loss for the short term.

About a year ago FHM magazine in Britian sold a "bucket of London Tap Water" on eBay for £140 Sterling. The guy who bought it actually paid for it too. FHM Magazine made a sizable profit considering the cost of the bucket and eBay fees came to less than £5 (The water, naturally, came from a tap in their London office) By my calculation the profit is approx. 96.5% of the purchase price. Or to put it another way 2700% profit on costs. --Colin Mackay--

How about a book: "The Devil in the Machine: Is your computer possessed by a demon?" Reverend Jim Peasboro of Savannah GA has written a book "The Devil in the Machine: Is your computer possessed by a demon?" Some of the points raised in the book are: "While the Computer Age has ushered in many advances, it has also opened yet another door through which Lucifer and his minions can enter and corrupt men's souls." Demons can possess anything with a brain, including a chicken, a human being, or a computer. "Any PC built after 1985 has the storage capacity to house an evil spirit." "...most of the youths involved in school shootings like the tragedy at Columbine were computer buffs...I have no doubt that computer demons exerted an influence on them." an estimated "...one in 10 computers in America now houses some type of evil spirit." "Technicians can replace the hard drive and reinstall the software, getting rid of the wicked spirit permanently." Rev. Peasboro said: "I learned that many members of my congregation became in touch with a dark force whenever they used their computers. Decent, happily married family men were drawn irresistibly to pornographic websites and forced to witness unspeakable abominations. Housewives who had never expressed an impure thought were entering Internet chat rooms and found themselves spewing foul, debasing language they would never use normally...One woman wept as she confessed to me, 'I feel when I'm on the computer as if someone else or something else just takes over.'" He had the opportunity to inspect an infected computer. He found that an artificial-intelligence program started up automatically. He said that: "The program began talking directly to me, openly mocked me. It typed out, 'Preacher, you are a weakling and your God is a damn liar.' " Then the device went haywire and started printing out what looked like gobbledygook...I later had an expert in dead languages examine the text. It turned out to be a stream of obscenities written in a 2,800-year-old Mesopotamian dialect!" http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_exor3.htm[^] ------------------------------------------ The ousted but stubbornly non-dead leader reportedly released an audiotape this weekend, ending by calling on Iraqis to, quote, "resist the occupation in any way you can, from writing on walls, to boycotting,

One of the consequences of capitalism is the exploitation of the stupidity and/or lack of education of some people for the greedy satisfaction of vultures celebrated as heroes of the free enterprise. Till now scammers were considered in most civilizations as criminals, now thanks to the propagation of the idea of an overwhelming economy over any other value, swindlers are described as examples to follow and become leaders of our societies. Evolution doesn't mean progress.

Apparently evil spirits are bigger than 640K. :-D The kindest thing you can do for a stupid person, and for the gene pool, is to let him expire of his own dumb choices. [Roger Wright on stupid people] We're like private member functions [John Theal on R&D] We're figuring out the parent thing as we go though. Kinda like setting up Linux for the first time ya' know...
