Why oh why does our Exchange server choose holidays to die? Last time it was Easter. Today I was 1 hour through watching The Return of the King for a second time when I noticed the light on my phone come on. I exited the cinema and discovered that my intuition was correct - the caller had been my boss hoping for help. Needless to say no more movie watching for me, and an afternoon of trying to coax the HDD back to life :sigh:. Worse still, we are still using Arcserve for our backups. What a pig to set up for Exchange, but totally necessary to restore our backups. It's probably too much to hope that another day of work (tomorrow) will free me up to enjoy the rest of the holiday this week. :((

There's nothing worse than trying to restart an Exchange server on a day off, than trying to restart an Exchange server on a day off when you are hung over. :) Chris Meech It's much easier to get rich telling people what they want to hear. Morality: always turn off cellphones in theaters :) A pseudo-advice: if you can't fix it, kick it: if it doesn't work, at least it will help to calm down.

I was out of celphone range in a game reserve and he had a stroke. It was 5 days before he managed to get me, on a chance when our game vehicle happened to be within range of a tower. Since then I try to have it on as much as possible - you never know when someone (in yesterday's case my boss) might need you. Of course, it isn't necessary to annoy other people with this habit. I have it on silent, with the vibrate off. The screen lighting up is enough to tell me that someone wants me, and when the phone stops flashing I'll take it out of my pocket and look to see if it's someone worth leaving the movie for to call back from outside. I'm probably oversensitive however :). I hate it when people are inconsiderate and actually talk on their phones in a movie, at dinner, etc X| . Megan Forbes wrote: you never know when someone (in yesterday's case my boss) might need you. That's why I was so reluctant to have a cell phone  A wired phone line with an answer machine fitted my needs, the cost of communication to friends' cellular phones from such a line was indeed the reason to incite me to use GSM. Megan Forbes wrote: I hate it when people are inconsiderate and actually talk on their phones in a movie, at dinner, etc The next step for cell phones will probably be an implant directly connected to the spine  Megan Forbes wrote: This may be attempted before the day ends a broken HDD is such a pain in the ass, please accept all my sympathy.
