I'm really sorry I asked to work with this annoying and clumsy time bomb instead of VB6 for a new project. I mean it! VB6!! I suppose it was released around 1 and 1/2 years after VC6 and nevertheless it seems that I'm back at the DOS age. *BEEP* G. Raven

I totally agree. For some reason, when it came out, Borland sent it to me for free--perhaps as an apology for how bad 4 was? (So bad, I returned it, so I didn't even have a license.) Out of curiosity I installed it and was amazed at how many obvious bugs they didn't fix. So, I sold it on eBay. I guess it wasn't all that bad. I was thinking of ranting about some VS.NET IDE bugs, but this has cleared my mind of that! Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. Yeah, I've been there. X| The last place I worked at that used C++ Builder as there "company standard". I refused to use it - even though there main application was entirely written in it. I wrote all my stuff as ActiveX controls in VC++ and then plugged it in to their monolithic legacy app. A co-worker wrote all his stuff as ActiveX controls in Delphi (whatever :~ ) and plugged it into the main app too. The software "leaders" couldn't understand how we were getting all these languages to talk to each other, and even more amazing - how we could fix bugs in our code without them having to recompile the main app. Anyway, back to the main point - yes it's horrible. The IDE is a travesty of human interface design and an exercise in frustration. And doesn't the compiler do something really bizarre, like convert everything to Delphi and then compile it? X|
