Rookie question: Toolbar "app"

I have a task at work where the simplest implementation (from the user's perspective)would be in the form of a custom toolbar that would work in Excel. The application deals almost exclusively with manipulating speadsheet data, so I think a toolbar or other groop of buttons would be an elegant way to implement this. I've never written such an application before, but I have done similar stand-alone Windows applications. Where do I start? Where's the best information to get going on this? Are there examples around anywhere?:confused: RhinoBob

Helllo there Mike, I'm no expert on this topic, but I might give you some starters insight. If I get you right, you are not interested in writing Excel macro's (did you consider that as well ?) but a real stand alone application which communicates with Excel ? If so, then look for the techniques 'DDE' or 'Automation'. A good starting point would be installing your Excel again from the Office setup and include Visual Basic help on Excel. VB is commonly used for letting an application communicate with Excel and the likes. Also have a look at the developpers MSDN section at htpp://www.microsoft.com. Hope this helps a bit..
