If memory serves the Bush Administration didn't seem overly thrilled with Chalabi at the start of this thing. It seems that the guy managed to manuever himself in and use his influence with other Iraqi exiles to worm his way into a position of influence. Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

Chris Losinger wrote: the guy who's been playing the US government for nearly a decade? It is not a matter of who is playing who. The Chalabis and the US government use each other for their own interests, just like the Saddams and the US goverment did in the 80s.

Chalabi is very much a "has been". I don't think the US government wants to deal with him anymore - in part because of his deplorable approval ratings in Iraq. I read a poll of Iraqis the other day that asked, "Which Iraqi leader do you trust most?" Chalabi was at 0.2%. The poll then asked "Which Iraqi leader do you trust least?" Chalabi was around 10%. ----------------------------------------------------- Bush To Iraqi Militants: 'Please Stop Bringing It On' - The Onion
