I hate Netscape

I have spent the past 20 minutes trying to figure out why my table that stretches all the way across the page in IE, doesn't in Netscape. I tried everything - I tweaked my CSS, I tweaked the width parameters in the <TD>s, and everything else in between. I was about to say "FiretrUCK Netscape!!!" when I noticed that I had forgotten to put one quotation mark on the width statement of the parent table. Netscape is the devil. Microsoft may be profiteering scum bags but they don't release cess pool applications like Netscape 4.x. I would not mind so much if Netscape 4.x was consistently buggy. To be fair you should not even have to type such things, but the HTML editors are just so bad... :( Let me guess - are you using notepad for HTML stuff just like me? ;)

As a fellow HomeSite afficianado, I thought I would point out a couple of useful tidbits. One is that there are some VTOM scripts available to parse your HTML and quote all the attributes for you. I am not thrilled with these, because they are too stupid, you would have ended up with that width attribute quoted, but with two quotes on one side. Even better, though more expensive, is CSE HTML Validator. I LOVE this thing. It integrates with HomeSite, takes the place of the internal HomeSite validator for whole document validation. Give it a try, catches all kinds of things. I use it on most everything I do. But unfortuanatley it is still slower and buggier. A huge improvement over 4.x but still not good enough to make me switch to it over IE or Opera. I totally agree, but there is always some tool out there using Netscape who complains that the page looks crappy in his browser. Bad business to tell my customers, "Don't use Netscape, ya jack@$$!" Nope, I think Michael Martin coined that one.
