I'm not really fond of football myself, I don't like the cheating spirit, I don't like supporters, I don't like players behaviour when they score. Nonetheless, I think I will look at the games during the competition, there should be some good ones. And it's always a good occasion to meet with friends and have some :beer:s

Funnily enough, the Portuguese authorities have recommended that Engerrrrland fans smoke grass instead of drinking beer - less chance of trouble then!!!

France most likely to win. Unless we get a repeat of their last major tournament performance - which would be most amusing :)

The Czech Republic is IMO the strongest competitor. Dan Bennett wrote: which would be most amusing Indeed, they were so ridiculous during this World Cup... Bah, as long as we beat England, nothing else matters ;):-D

During World Cup '98, Toulouse hosted some games featuring England. Because of these bloody hooligans, the "Fête de la Musique" (music celebration day?) had to be cancelled because of the fear of incidents :mad::mad: These guys are well known, I don't understand why they can't be controlled

Well, the New England Patriots won the superbowl here this year, so I'd imagine they have a pretty good shot at taking the Euros out. I didn't even know y'all played football over there. hmm... ~Nitron.

I couldn't give a rats arse. I'm sick of Euro 2004 already and it hasn't even started yet. I mentioned that I don't like football in the office the other day and people looked at me as if I had just murdered their families and was feasting on the rotting remains. Fuck Euro 2004 - fuck it from here to Portugal and back again. Secretly I am hoping that England "fans" get up to their usual tricks and end up getting the team booted out. Then perhaps the TV scheduling can get back to some semblance of normality. I hate football, but never more so than when the fucking Euro or World Cup tournaments are on. If people didn't act so fucking tribal about football in general (and the associated violence that seems to follow the game in England) then perhaps I wouldn't be so bothered, but I have seen "the beautiful game" bring best friends to blows, and it just gets right on my fucking tits. Oh, and France will proabbly win. Not that I care.

The strange thing is problems with hooligans seem to be an export item, reserved to international displays. When I see UK stadiums, there's no netting between the players and the audience, and the audience is quiet close of the field. I suppose then there's no specific problem (at least, since Cantona[^] doesn't play anymore :) )

I am a semi football fan. I will watch it if its on and I feel I have a link with one of the teams, otherwise it doesn't bother me. For those who are interested I am a Middlesbrough supporter, whos site is www.mfc.co.uk[^] as a matter of fact. Got there by accident thinking it may be a M$ site. I must admit, I will be following some of the games in the competition, although I have already learned that I have some activities that currently clash with match times, so I will only get to see hilights of the England matches :sigh: As for predictions, I recon one of the teams who are entered will win, unless the tournament gets bombed out by AQ.
