I have also heard that another thing keeping people away are the prices. My understanding is that ticket prices are extremely expensive, and people have complained about local resteraunts, clubs, etc, price gouging 4-5 time what the normal price would be. At least that's what the local news here (NYC) was reporting. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! I have heard the two different stories on the Olympic prices. Unsure what the truth is. Regardz Colin J Davies Attention: Watch this signature for an upcoming announcement that will affect you.

can I say bollocks ?!?! empty stands ... because people (greeks) still have to work; and most of the events are really, really boring ... or are targetted to such a small audience.

No dirty bombs have exploded, no machine gun fire, and no airoplanes have flown into stadiums. But terrorists have struck hard at the Olympics. The evidence is everytime you watch an event, take a peek at the empty stands. I beleive the principal reason why these stands lack spectators is due to the fact that the normal spectators decided to step this one out, in preference for their own safety. So in fact terrorism has won because people have started making decisions based on their fears of terrorism. While you won't see the terrorists take the podium, they already won. Perhaps people aren't going to the Olympics because they don't want to deal with going through all the elaborate security measures. Kyle

I'm not a big sports fan, but I do think that the future will be for small crowds and even more TV stuff. At the olympics by sutting at front of the shrine, you can see 30 different sports in one day, which is quite cool, also. hmm I am not sure about that. Maybe the events are just a tad boring? Were are the nipple flashes? Were is the drama and the Inside The Olympic Village reality show? I want hair pulling, name calling and the dirty secrets of the stars. It's a bunch of elite, stratospheric athletes coming together once every four years with no continuity or history. The events are beyond common human understanding, pushed beyond mortal mans' daily world. The competitors have no character, nothing beyond what they are on the track. They are muscle and insane science based fitness regimes released at one time all over in a few seconds. They race themselves, victories meaningless thousands of a second improvements. 0.05s difference? I have no comprehension of who the better athlete is in that. It's all too elite for my tastes. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Christopher Duncan wrote: "I always knew that somewhere deep inside that likable, Save the Whales kinda guy there lurked the heart of a troublemaker..." Yep, I think you have a point. In past Olympics I have felt more 'pazazz' and 'glitter'. I wonder if the great olympic movemnet has now turned a corner towards running out of steam. I wouldn't be surprised if an olympic reality show got higher ratings.
