Uh. Shouldn't she be able to sue Gaddi for that? You can't just fire someone based on who you're voting for in a country where speech is allegedly free. -- Arigato gozaimashita!

"Just so you will know, because of the Bush tax (cut): I was able to buy the new Hammer Mill I was able to finance our receivables I was able to get the new CAT skid steer I was able to get the wire cutter I was able to give you a job" and what he left off: You all got shafted with higher insurance premiums for less health coverage and higher deductibles. And furthermore, purchases for a business are tax deductable, so what the hell is he talking about anyways? It all comes off his income line, so it has nothing to do with Bush's tax cuts. Moron. I think the boss has a case if the worker was parked in a staff parking area paid for by the business. Otherwise the guys is a dickhead. Regardz Colin J Davies Attention: It's finally arrived, The worlds first DSP.

The First Amendment starts: "Government shall make no law...". It has absolutely no authority over private businesses. So while it's a dickhead thing to do, and may be worth a suit, she can't sue on the grounds that her First Amendment rights were violated. --Mike-- Personal stuff:: Ericahist | Homepage Shareware stuff:: 1ClickPicGrabber | RightClick-Encrypt CP stuff:: CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | C++ Forum FAQ ----

You must respect I'm speaking form my social and cultural viewpoint. Here disobediance is direct grounds for immediate dismissal. Discrimination on political beliefs is not permitted however. In this case the disobediance would rank over any discrimination however. First off (if her story is accurate) Gaddis is a weasel, he was wrong to fire her. While not a 1st amendment issue (since he is a private citizen and not a government agent) I'm sure the ACLU could find something to nail him on - maybe civil rights. However, Ms. Gobbell needs to learn the difference between being told to remove a sticker from her car and being told who to vote for. :omg: "We were going back to work from break, and my manager told me that Phil said to remove the sticker off my car or I was fired," she said. "I told him that Phil couldn't tell me who to vote for. He said, 'Go tell him.' " She went to Gaddis' office, knocked on the door and entered on his orders. "Phil and another man who works there were there," she said. "I asked him if he said to remove the sticker and he said, 'Yes, I did.' I told him he couldn't tell me who to vote for. When I told him that, he told me, 'I own this place.' I told him he still couldn't tell me who to vote for." If that is any indication of how she parses instructions - I hope the "bagging machine" wasn't a dangerous device. ;P "Reality is what refuses to go away when I stop believing in it." Philip K. Dick

contrary to widely held belief, employers can fire you for just about anything. Unless you can demonstrate something like discrimination, or maybe a whitsle blowing situation. Looking for me in cyberspace? I am the electron with the red hat, occupying 3rd sit on the left of the data bus. by the way, perl stinks. Yeah, there is a subtle difference. What if she had displayed a KKK sticker or something else, would people be still defending her. Regardz Colin J Davies Attention: It's finally arrived, The worlds first DSP.

I think you should count yourself lucky that a keyboard isn't a dangerous device :-) No, he didn't say the exact words "Don't vote for Kerry", but even though his actions said as much, then he couldn't make it more clearly when he said "I own this place". Saying that, as a response to "You can't tell me who to vote for", implies that he actually thought he could.
