personal programmer. Don't come to CP asking people to write your GOD DAMN code for you. Show some initiative. Nothing more annoying that people asking for help here on CP and then when you answer their question they don't like it because YOU DIDN'T WRITE THE CODE FOR THEM!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGG!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I feel better now. :) Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

Where's Roger Allen when you need him ... hang on a minute he's that pommy bastard that didn't bother turning up to get me a job like I asked a few weeks ago. I must say that the quality of members of Code Project has fallen dramatically of late. Why I remember back when could just turn up and get someone here to run my life for a few days. None of that now though, Chris I believe that some screening needs to be done before accepting new members, maybe even revoking membership to some of these slackers like Tim Smith and Roger Allen, what do you say? ;P Michael Martin Australia mmartin@netspace.net.au "Don't belong. Absolutely. Tim - if you think you are given a hard time then let's swap email for a day or so. I get everything from the standard 'I'm designing a distributed n-tier app and I want you to send me specs - today' to 'here's my school assignment. You MUST send me the code and detailed explanations.' (and then this last is repeated every 10 minutes until, I'm assuming, deadline). The best call for help I got was an email with the single line: 'I keep getting an error but I don't know what'. I suggested they reboot and try again. cheers, Chris Maunder

You can't leave it like that - we want examples! Just put up a simple page with a few of the best emails on it. Pretty please? :-D ________________ David Wulff http://www.davidwulff.co.uk "I wrote a program in Visual C++ that allows me to send over 5,000 GIGABYTES of Video to every computer and TV Set connected to the Internet in "0" SECONDS (YES! I agree no=one is helpful anymore, Chris must do something about CP before it heads the way of Codeguru. I'd like to see the number of Qu's somebody has asked against responses in the page stats. Also you should have to include your bosses or teachers email before asking a question on the forums. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

I got a great one last week: an email with about 200 'F*** OFF's in a row. Evidently the guy was having a bad time ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

I just got a doosy: "I'm having problem with your code saying "Unspecified error". Will you please take a look and let me know the correct solution." No code sample, no URL, no nothing. Anyone want to take a punt at this one for me? cheers, Chris Maunder

This is only a guess, but has the person unzipped the source files, or are are they trying to compile the zip archive? I know I always get problems doing that, even after I change the file extension to ".code" :-D ________________ David Wulff http://www.davidwulff.co.uk "My grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who work and those who take the credit. The best help line call I got was when my app was reporting "Data File not Found". I told the guy to go to a DOS prompt. This took ten mins for him to find the icon. I then told him to type "DIR *.*" . There was lots of tapping, but unfortunately I didn't twig at the time! He then said he got "Bad command of file name". So we tried lots of different thing, and then half an hour later, I realised what he had done. Rather than typing "DIR *.*", he type "DIRSTARDOTSTAR". Jeremy Davis http://www.astad.org
