Christmas Eve Tradition

Well, now is the holiday season and with that comes varied traditions. I know this Christmas Eve my wife and I are going to be smuggling gifts downstairs and enjoying some homemade eggnog (the secret ingredient is Brandy). I know that in my family our Christmas Eve tradition was that when the kids woke up early they would be allowed to open up their stockings whereas in my wife's family they had a 'Santa Chair'. I was hoping that with such a diverse base their is on this board that some people would want to share their Christmas Eve traditions.
we used to open presents on christmas eve. seemed like i always got a race car track set and we'd always stay up late racing ... or playing table hockey on those awesome little tables with the metal rods (like foosball, but the rods are on the end, and the players move around in little slots on the 'ice'). we'd set up brackets and play a full round of playoffs over the course of a week or so. and there was actual real snow outside, so it made sense to sing and hear songs about snow and 'winter wonderlands'. gotta move back up north... Typically, I go to my parents house have a cocktail or two, eat a loster dinner, then we exchange gifts and drink some more. BW

Family, Family, and Family. While growing up, the sights and smells of Christmas were wonders for my brothers and sister and I. My Mother was always baking and Dad was always putting up more decorations. Christmas Eve we would all go to church and sing carols for what seemed like hours, but when we got home and ready for bed, we would be allowed to open up just one of our presents. Before I was ten, my younger brother and I usually got up around 4 am and we would start playing with new toys and be going strong all through the morning. Later in the day, one of our aunts or uncles with cousins would come and share a Christmas dinner with us. Now that I'm fifty, with three daughters of my own, Christmas isn't really all that different. Just the role I play in it. :) Merry Christmas, everyone.
