I'm waiting for the first French person or company to be charged. I'm not holding my breath though... I think it is good that we are taking care of our own violators, don't you? Anger is the most impotent of passions. It effects nothing it goes about, and hurts the one who is possessed by it more than the one against whom it is directed. Carl Sandburg

Chris Losinger wrote: I'm waiting for the first person or company to be convicted. I'm not holding my breath though... The defendant plea-bargained. I wonder what kind of information he had to offer to get that deal? Anyway, it's still better than turning a blind eye to the corruption.

Hihi. You can wait. You're right not to hold your breath, unless you want to get an unprecedented World Record. Officially, no wrongdoing was done, for the moment there are just unjustified accusations made by US officials (who don't have any judicial power in France, that is, at least for the moment). Unofficiously, the people indicted are far too close of the right wing party currently leading the country and too close from the "Big Business" to be worried about a potential trial. " Selon que vous serez puissant ou misérable, Les jugements de cour vous rendront blanc ou noir"/ "Thus human courts acquit the strong, And doom the weak, as therefore wrong."

I think there's more than meets the eye here: you can't demand that the UN do something about the obvious corruption if you aren't doing something about your own citizens who may also be involved.
