We wear them because they help us to feel good about ourselves (it's no different from wearing makeup or having a new hairstyle, as far as I'm concerned). Besides, thongs are extremely comfortable when you get used to them. ;) Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. It's a stupid bill introduced for stupid reasons. I won't publicly make any allegations regarding the intelligence of those proposing and supporting it, but you can trace the pattern... In the end though, there is worse legislation out there, no sense losing sleep on this. If it gets passed, we'll have one more reason to make fun of Virginia...

I challenge anybody to show me the beauty in that. Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO
Sorry Marc but how can you claim there is absolute beauty in the clothing sense when cultures vary so greatly. Here in Africa tribal women freely expose their breasts and it the culture accepts and even demands it. The Khoi San women wear less than a thong over their entire bodies and it is considered a beautiful thing by their men. You and I have been brought up in the western way which puts underwear in a certain place. When it moves out of that place it feels out of place to us and we rebel. It's not anything to do with absolute beauty though. regards, Paul Watson South Africa The Code Project Pope Pius II said "The only prescription is more cowbell. "

Paul Watson wrote: Sorry Marc but how can you claim there is absolute beauty in the clothing sense when cultures vary so greatly. No apologies necessary. I'm more than happy to work myself into a corner defending my bizarre view of the world. So here goes-- Beauty has nothing to do with physical appearance. Beauty is a perception, and in particular, a human sense. When I speak of absolute beauty, I don't mean the physical manifestation of it, but rather the inner perception that we, as human beings, respond with. So, what I mean is that I think there are such things as absolute beauty because there are things that resonate with our spirit in sympathy (or whatever you want to call it if you're not keen on the word "spirit"). Similarly, ugly things resonate with our spirit in a different way, usually with antipathy. I think every human being has the potential to recognize when something is beautiful and when something isn't, and that this recognition can be universal among all of us, because it is an inner perception rather than something that needs to be objectively quantified. Now, I'm about to say something very radical in this age of political correctness and compromise on everything--there are many, many people in this world whose sense of beauty has been damaged. I'm certainly not excluding myself from this. I think there's a lot of things that people do that are the result of this spiritual damage. And so people are unable to recognize what is beautiful, what is not, and they falsely label something ugly as beautiful. Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO
