I faced the similar problem at my old job with IBM Intellistation Pro M. The very good tech support guy Tony did the trick by installing the generic intel sound card drivers. If your Thinkcenter has intel sound card try installing generic drivers, you'll get the most basic sound I/O. Farhan Noor Qureshi

Google for it. Maybe there are different versions of that driver on the net. Don't try it, just do it! ;-)
