Does a CDialogBar's parent always have to be a Frame Window?

IIRC, yes and no.  That "Frame Window" concept is a MFC concept, not a native Windows concept, and as such can be tricking a little bit. I previously tricked it such that I could host a CToolBar and CDialogBar in normal (modeless, actually) dialog windows.    I am pretty sure that messing with the CWnd::IsFrameWnd() function is the first place to get started.    Peace! -=- James
