Des Moines Iowa. USA. What's so amazing? I know that it means something like "the brothers" or "the fathers" in French(long time since I took French). Is that what your commenting on?:~ ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done.

Yes, I am being light. I remember now the city was named by French explorers and they meant to name it the brothers due to two rivers converging here but they messed up the translation to "the monks" instead:) Funny what happens when you let a non-French speaking person name your city eh? Even better there is a city nearby named prarie du chein but we pronounce it prarie du SHANE instead of the correct way:) I learned a lot in my French class(just not how to speak French:-D) ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done.

ah, ok, now i understand, "des moines" is the name of a town  about "prarie du chein", is it the right writing ? because it would be better (in french) to be : "prairie du chien"... anyway, as you say, that's funny to see thos rests of the conquerors past and how it becomes now :-D
