This weekend I partied like crazy. On the DL I was tipped off to a full service brothel in my own backyard! My friends and I smoked a bunch of reefer and caught a designated driver for hire to the spot. Got a cerveza at the bar and before I know it I'm getting to know the naughtiest little south american dish. Real freedom is great but then again most Amerikkkans these days wouldnt know the meaning. :) Flame away. I speak in a little known dialect of English called Josh. It is the spoken language of all people governed by the sovereign entity known as Josh. Please do not try to correct it, as I speak perfect Josh. I hope, for your own sake, that you get diseases which will make your balls fall off. That ought to teach you something. :) -- Keep talking! You're the fool, I'm the preacher.

True freedom is being able to take freedom from others, aka anarchy. But I'm sure you disagree with me. :) -- Keep talking! You're the fool, I'm the preacher.

I do disagree. You are only free to the extent that you are able to take responsibility for your own needs. The more some other agency assumes responsibililty for you, the less free you are - although they might provide you with a carefully crafted illusion of freedom. That is not an argument for anarchy, as it is perfectly appropriate to trade some degree of freedom for some degree of coorporation with your neighbors in order to confront any potential advisary as a like minded group rather than as an individual. I agree & think that people are more "free" than they realize if somebody decides to do something, what is actually preventing them ? if the action they want to do costs alot of money then that may slow them down. if the action they want to do is physically difficult like running 10 miles or getting 100 people to agree to something then that may slow them down. but if the action this person wants to do is ILLEGAL then so what ? laws are applied after the fact, not before and laws are only a deterrent to law-abiding people right ? so I'll have to go with the pot-smoker on this one :-D people are "free" to do almost anything, but fortunately there are laws to control most peoples actions & IMHO I think that's where RELIGION really came from, a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago some bright eyes learned enough about human psychology to start saying things like... do what I say/do & you shall be rewarded for all eternity don't do what I say/do & you shall be punished in HELL 4 EVER  OK that's my 2 cents :-D

I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say you promoted anarchy. What I did say though is that true freedom is anarchy - you fight for it and to keep it. Everything else is an attempt to bring order to chaos. For example: why should the fire department come and put out the fire in your home. It's your home - you put the fire out! Why should the police department catch the man that did you wrong? It's your security - you defend yourself! Why should jails keep the wrong doers from society? You're the one who have to worry about the wrong doers - you lock them up! Society as we know it, no matter how free you claim it is, is a well regulated and non-free to some extent. Anyway, onto my point: It's your economy - you gather the money! This is capitalism, wouldn't you agree? Now, suppose you weren't free to gather money in any way, then you would not have capitalism. Therefore, that which makes it possible for you to gather money, is what's the source of capitalism. Are you with me? Since you have to have some form of freedom to gather money, i.e. capitalism, then capitalism cannot be the source of all true freedom. I'm not arguing for anarchy, nor against it. I'm just trying to weaken the statement in your signature. Am I succeeding? ;) -- Keep talking! You're the fool, I'm the preacher.

My attitude is that, in a real world sense, capitalism is the infrastructure that allows me to make free economic decisions. Both in how I secure my financial resouces and how I dispose of them. Capitalism is nothing more or less than respect for and protection of private property. That which allows me to gather money is capitalism, as well as that which allows me to dispose of it. The money I gather is my own personal property just as is my land, my house, my clothes, or any thing else I own. So in that sense I still maintain that...
