Just to be sure I understand, we have Muslims actually murdering people all over the freaking planet in the name of their religion, and you believe that some century old hymn metaphorically relating a Cristian's duty to follow Jesus in his fight against satan is something to be concerned about? So, thats like some kind of moral equivalency? Proof of some kind that Christianity is some kind of fantical religion? I think you should spend more time worrying about the beam in your own eye rather than the mote in mine. How many people have been killed by muslioms in the last 1o years compared to killed by the west in just the last gulf war? Or people killed by serbia. Or in Rwuanda? For fucks sake give it a rest. An no, I am not a muslem, nor am I particularly christian, although I probably owe my culture that tag at the least. I am also not anything else. Otto was, through a combination of diplomatic skill and military ability, able to ensure the loyalty of many of the German states and was instrumental in fighting off the great non-White invasion of Asiatics & Islamic tribes in a great race war by defeating them at the battle of Lechfeld in 955. (This Asiatic invasion was dealt with in previous chapter). Otto also had to fight off attacks from the Danes and Slavs, defeating them and establishing German centers in the lands he occupied as a result - the most prominent being the archbishopric of Magdeburg in 968 AD. By these deeds Otto, single-handedly created the Holy Roman Empire.

Almost as good as some of the passages in the Koran, but not quite: Koran 17:16-17 When we decide to destroy a population, we send a definite order to them who have the good things in life and yet transgress; so that Allah's word is proved true against them: then we destroy them utterly. How many generations have we destroyed after Noah? And enough is thy Lord to note and see the Sins of his servants Koran 8:37 In order that Allah may seperate the impure from the pure, Put All the impure ones (Non-Muslim), one on top of the another in a Heap and cast them into Hell. They will be the ones to have lost Koran 21:11 How many were the populations we utterly destroyed because of their inequities, setting up in their place other peoples Koran 2:8-10 In their (Non-Muslims) hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease and grievous is the penalty they will incur, because they are false. Koran 2:39 Those who reject faith (Islam) and belie our signs, They shall be Companions of the Fire and abide in it. Koran 2:89-90 The Curse of Allah is on those without faith (in Islam) Thus have they drawn wrath upon wrath on themselves and humiliating is the punishment of those who reject faith (Islam) Koran 5:33 The Punishment for those who oppose Allah and his messenger is : Execution or Crucifixion or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides or exile from the land Koran 9:35 On the day when Heat will be produced out of the wealth in the Fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their sides and their backs- "This is the treasure that ye buried for yourselves, taste ye then the treasures that ye buried." Koran 8:50 If you could see when the angels take the souls of the Unbelievers at death. How they smite their faces and backs saying "Taste the penalty of the blazing Fire"
Hmmm okay interesting so whats your point. Just glancing I noticed some of the verses seem to be mistranslated, but other wise if you are among the Monotheist[whatever that means] religions you should absolute belief in these verses anyway. Quran Translation Intro Discover

It kind of makes me wonder though, if those evil racist greeks had not stopped those wonderful, fun loving Persians invaders maybe we wouldn't have all this terrible democracy stuff to worry about now in 2005  "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."

Sorry, I cant see anything in the original post that compares the violence of islam to christianity. I was objecting to your statement that there are muslems runing amok in the world killing people left right and centre. And that is a total exaggeration of the facts. Yes, there are a number of very twisted extremeists out there who use Islam as an excuse and as a recruiting tool. But please do not istake them with the majority of muslems. fat_boy wrote: I cant see anything in the original post that compares the violence of islam to christianity. That is because it wasn'nt in the original post it was in my response to the original post. The original post was using a christian hymn that suggested that chrisitanity is a violent, fanatical religion becasue it encourages christians to act as soldiers marching as to war. My point was why on earth, if a person were truly concerned about religion insprired violence, would some old hymn represent something to be concerned about at the same time as fanatics of a different religion were actually in the process of conducting outright warfare against other people around the planet? fat_boy wrote: I was objecting to your statement that there are muslems runing amok in the world killing people left right and centre. Yet, however many there may or may not be, there are certainly more of them than there are Christians acting in the same way. Of the two religions, Christianity, for all of its imperfections, is not, in fact, encouraging that level of violence from even its most fanatic followers. Youi can continue to deny that all you like. But the fact remains that for those who are concerned about the problems of violence insprired by religious fanaticism, it is ludicrous to continue to beat a dead horse (Christianity) when a very live horse (Islam)is trampling you into the dust. fat_boy wrote: What? I continue to be stunned by the lengths secular fanatics go to draw moral equivalency between all the evils of the world and christianity. Let muslims murder thousands, and what do we get? Lectures about the evils of christianity. Christianity has had its ass kicked, for pete's sake, why don't you go pick on someone else for a change? You are like the bully who, when he gets a black eye from an even bigger bully, goes back to beating the other, smaller children all that much more. Why don't you show some courage and stand up to the other bully instead of making excuses for him? "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."
