Imagine for a moment that we were able as humans to conclude that there was no life after death. (ie, no divine judgement, etc. im talking /dev/null here) If this were the case would you live your life differently? I speak in a little known dialect of English called Josh. If we were able to answer this question without question (so to speak) then we would necessarily be (almost?) god-like ourselves and probably immortal and the question would no longer be a question and yes I reckon that might change my life a bit... ...but I don't reckon on that happening somehow.... :) Fred

I very much live my life by Bible guidelines set out by God, but if there were no chance of life later, no resurrection, I believe I still would live my life the same. Living by the high standards set out in the Bible has brought me many blessings, not least of which is my wonderful wife. (Please don't respond to this post coming down on me for my belief in God. I make this post as a response to the question, not as endorsement for all of those, how shall I call them?, God-beaters out there to attack my beliefs. I've gone through it before on this forum and found that these 'scientific' and 'logical' people couldn't discuss the belief without emotional outbursts and attacks against me personally.) Since we are not even sure how many dimensions there are or if multiple universes exist or not I'd say heaven/hell/valhalla could be floating in your left kidney. That whole thing of "Heaven is up and Hell is down" is rot. BTW I don't believe in either or any afterlife for that matter. If you believe in an accounting for every action that you have done, then it tends to shape your actions. The stronger the belief the more influence on behaviour. Ofcourse there are different levels, so a person might say they believe something but they don't really take it to heart, then there are others who have a stronger belief and before any action might think what the ramifications of their actions are. I live my life as if there is no afterlife. I don't believe there is one. I could be wrong but all signs point to no IMO. If I knew there was an afterlife and it required special acts in life to gain entry into then yes, I would more than likely live my life differently to how I am living it now (no sex before marriage for instance.) Everlasting afterlife with some restrictions in life is not too bad a deal. It isn't ideal though. I'd prefer if everything, for instance, the Christian afterlife stands for I stood for (no sex before marriage for instance.) regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and ilikecameras. Life after death.. what a concept. If there's life after death, then why do we die? All religions more or less tell us how to live our life, and what will happen after we die. But none, that I'm aware of, tells us why we have to die. Wouldn't it pointless to die, eventhough we'd live after death? :~ -- Look straight into the light!
