Pretty close, unless you're also intolerant with your own beliefs. But somehow that wouldn't surprise me.

Observing multiculturalism's exclusive intolerance of Christians makes me a Christian? I don't think so. I merely makes me an observer. Maybe you should try it some time. (Mind you, I'm not saying I'm not a Christian, I'm just asking anyone to point out anyplace where I have predicated my arguments on a Christian POV) "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

That's not what your definition said. Now I see what you meant but it can be interpreted differently and I did.

I've never been on firmer ground, morally, logically, or otherwise, than I am today. If we ever expect Islam to change we are going to have to do it in exactly the same way that we forced Chrisitanity to change - by getting in its face demanding change from all of those who declare membership in it. That's fair enough: as long you realise that many 'liberal' types will feel that you're overstepping the mark. I guess you could even push them away from your cause rather than pull them in which, I suppose (I have no real way of knowing for sure, of course), is what you want. Personally I agree with your sentiments if not the way that you espouse them. But I think all religions are bullshit and present a clear and immediate danger to humanity by attempting to hold us back and bog us down in the inertia that is faith. It just appears that islam, a particularly pernicious faith, is at the high end of that scale at the present time. I'd prefer it, therefore, if you were just as abrasive with all religions or explain to me why yours (if you have one) is better than anyone elses: at the end of the day you all believe in some sort of omnipotent being, regardless of how you practice that belief.

Sometimes you can be a right cunt Stan. What a fucking shitty thing to say to a guy who has just become a father. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself - today you're a disgrace to humanity.

Give me a break. I wish the Republicans would push a more confrontational approach towards Muslims. The truth is they are falling all over themselves to avoid any sort of judgemental condemnation of the Islamic masses. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

First off, I am about the most secular person you are likely to meet. I try to live my life according to Christian principles, but that is more an exercise in personal discipline than from any sort of evagelical belief in Christianity. If you read the posts on Intelligent Design from last week, you will see that I was quite abrasive to the Chrisitans who hang out here. However, I include all philosophies, including secularism, as sources of possible oppression and tyranny. I don't think religion is unique in that sense. Far more damage has been done in the name of secular causes than in the name of religious ones. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

What exactly did I say that was so bad? The guy comes in here thanking the same God for his children that so many other people's children are being killed in the name of. I think it is not only justified but it is essential to constantly remind Muslims of that. And I intend to rub their faces in it at every goddamned opportunity I get. Hell, you guys give U.S. Christians more grief than that for just wanting to control what their children are taught in schools. It is your hypocrisy that is showing here, not mine. This has nothing to do with the US. There are loonies here that want to teach ID but that is beside the point.

It is precisely the point. ID is being presented in the name of Christianity - all Christians are responsible for what is done in their name, and that makes them even more responsible for confronting and defeating the "loonies" which is why I confronted them on the ID thread. In exactly the same way, Muslims are collectively responsible for all of the evil that is done in the name of their religion and they are especially responsible for dealing with it. Their reaction to the evil growing in their midst should be precisely the same as our civilization's was to the threat of fascism and communism - a single minded and unequivocal condemanation of it and a devotion to its defeat and destruction. That might make me an asshole, but it makes you a hypocrit and a coward for not having the moral conviction to hold them to that simple civil obligation. I disagree. One of my friends is Italian and she is a Catholic. She does not believe in ID. Should I hold her responsible for the fact that a US backwater is teaching ID in class?

Took the US long enough. If you had of got your head out of your arse in '39 or '40 it would have been a different story. Instead you let US companies like IBM profit from the Nazis until the Japs brought it to your front door. Wanker
