Bitching everywhere. Argueing with every ID proponent I know (and I know several) about what a stupid idea it is. Going to church and making my feelings known. And raising my children to appreciate the concept of responsibility.

So you express a lot of hot air. That doesnt that suprise me. You havent changed the fact it is being taught in your schools so according to your logic it is your fault and you are a failure.

And if we had intervened earlier, FDR would still be known as that interventionist bastard that killed all those innocent Germans and Japanese just to control the wealth of central Europe and the Pacific. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

I disagree (just for a change). You ended up with a lot of influence over those parts of the world anyway. And what you didnt get the USSR got and that went well didnt it

Bullshit. The very minute my community tries to put ID in the school my children go to I will immediately be in their faces about it. I oppose it, and other issues, as vocally and forcibly as I can at every possible opportunity. And if I were a Muslim, I would be takeing a stand against fundamentalism in precisely the same way.

More bullshit. We saved the fucking planet from Fascism and Communism. We did a good thing. We stood up and defended our values. That is something no amount of revisionism can whitewash. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

Rubbish. The allies would have won with or without the US. You just sped it up a bit by providing lots of cannon fodder. You could have sped it up a lot more but who cares about Jews in concentration camps right?

It remains an issue of responsibility. You either assume it or you don't.

Thats insane. Germany had Europe in the palm of its hand. Neither the Soviets or the Brits could have held out for a month without all the material the US was providing from a very early date. You can't blame the American people for being initially reluctant for getting involved in yet another European fiasco. I mean, crap, we Americans are descended from those who escaped the farce that passes for European politics in the first place and than have to go back and sacrifice generation after generation to save these same assholes from themselves. And lets not even get into the Battle of the Coral Sea where the American navy saved Australia for a Japanese invasion that would have easily led to the conquest of your entire hapless little continent.

I actually had an uncle that fought in New Guinea. But it was kind of a sideshow for us. In any case, New Guinea would have been a moot point if we happened stopped the Jap navy for you.

Not you thank God but the Japanese seemed to have some interest acording to you. I wish there was a smily for giving you the finger. And I still say you're an arse hole. I cant get over what you said to thet guy who was obviously so happy about the birth of his child. I dont know anyone apart from you guys here who actually have anything good to say about the US. When I was living in Europe it was amazing the way people would treat me once they know I was Asutralian and not British or American. I am and always will be proud to be an Aussie and proud of what our armed forces have achieved. You guys should have a look at what we did in East Timor.

That guy is probably in his little home right now in Iran beating the hell out of his wife for taking her burka off. I wouldn't waste too much sympathy on him.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. The rest of the world consists of all the places we Americans escaped from so that we could build our own country and live our own lives in our own way. We don't owe anyone an apology for that. What exactly did I say that was so bad? The guy comes in here thanking the same God for his children that so many other people's children are being killed in the name of. I think it is not only justified but it is essential to constantly remind Muslims of that. And I intend to rub their faces in it at every goddamned opportunity I get. Hell, you guys give U.S. Christians more grief than that for just wanting to control what their children are taught in schools. It is your hypocrisy that is showing here, not mine. I am entirely consistent in my posts. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

Just as Dieu and Gott are the French and German words for God, so is Allah the Arabic equivalent. In part, this identity of meaning can be seen from cognates: In Hebrew, the word for God is Elohim, a cognate of Allah. In Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus, God is Allaha.[^]

Ummmm... you didn't answer his question. You of all women should be as sensitive to female oppression unde Islam as anyone. Be angry at Stan if you want, but don't discount his opinions out of hand. Better to live one day as a lion than a hundred years as a sheep.

Actually, I did...but I obviously didn't check it had been posted and not 500'd before tabbing away. For the record I'll say it again. I condemn all oppression and discrimination, along with all regimes and social structures which allow such injustice to propagate. That includes not only many Islamic nations (Iran and Saudi Arabia are notably high on my shit list), but also many others in the world (including some Western nations, in case you are wondering). That said, I would never let that detract from the joy any parent must feel at the arrival of a child, regardless of where they live. That is why I condemned what Stan posted - his remarks were at best tactless and arrogant. How the fuck could anyone not wish a happy parent well on the birth of their child? Because I believe he was using the birth of a child as an excuse to fling his religion around thats why. I think his religion is probably far more important to him than his children. I think he was being grossly and purposefully insensitive as well as overtly confrontational by invoking the name of a diety that so many other people's children have been killed for. I grew up in the bible belt, I know a religious fanatic when I hear one. and, while I might be insensitive, at least I know when I'm being slapped in the face. Congratulations! You've just won the prize for the biggest load of bullshit I've heard this week. Is it an aquired skill, or were you born with it? :omg: You're wrong Stan. Change "Allah" to "God" and you have a phrase you'll hear in any Evangelical Christian Church every Sunday. I also remember many sermons in one such Church in which we were told our first love must be God, and everything and everyone else (even our closeest families) must come second to that. By your definition those people were fanatics - something they quite plainly were not! Life is not black and white, no matter how much you seem to want it to be. :rose: Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. The fact that he invokes the name of Allah is all the proof that I need. He voluntarily associates himself with a religion that is used as a pretext for murder and bloodshed all over this planet, with absolutely no attempt to disassociated himself from those who do that. None of us, including you (hell, especially you) would let a Christian get away with that. I hold him responsible for what others do in the name of the religion he claims membership in, precisely as I would any Christian. I do not believe that "moderation" is ever an appropriate response to fanaticism. Anyone who remains moderate in the face of fanaticism is nothing but a coward - at best. Every religion is a joke, but most of us are equipped with the brainwiring that tells us when it's not appropriate to point out things like that.
