Common in Pakistan. The law says women can be killed by their son/father/brother/husband to protect the 'honor' of the family. So, if you're a Pakistani muslim woman and you get raped, your son/father/brother/husband can kill you to protect or regain the family honor. It's not sanctioned by law in India (certainly) and Bangladesh (AFAIK). AFAIK, it doesn't even happen in either of these two countries. Cheers, Vikram.

YUSUFALI: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard.
