how to turn off the internet IE shockwave stuff ? I have Win XP pro, all the latest from windowsupdate and internet surfing causes random auto-reboots error messages show shockwave crashing is there some easy way to remove this cr**p software and prevent it from reloading ? when I restored box from ghost image, some websites paused & then splash screen to install shockwave. then the auto reboots started. I poked around in IE options but nothing obvious.... what cr**ppy software & a cr**ppy website to support it

It is an ActiveX control, so you could set your activex security higher but that then means all other controls are affected. Alternatively, find out what is wrong with your computer. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Did you try turning off System Recovery (Restore) before removing it and rebooting?

thanks for the tips !!! I poked around macromedia, uninstalled the thingie, set the activex options to "disable" instead of enable/prompt, now let's see if that was realllllly causing the problem
