This story[^] is interesting for several reasons. But what I'm most interested in is how race somehow became an issue. Who cares if the little girl was black or white? Why is the NAACP mentioned in this story? And what about this Dymally character who said the girl was "a little African-American girl. Would he (Riordan) have done that to a white girl?". Oops! He finds out that the girl is white with blonde hair and says, "To err is human; to forgive is divine." and "Race is not a factor in this issue." What? :wtf:

This smells more like the media trying to make an issue out something very petty. Sure if it was my daughter that he had said that to, I'd be upset and looking for an apology of sorts, and now that he's gone and done that, the media are still hounding him. Some dogs just can't let go of old bones. Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] I think people should be required to have an operator's permit to use the internet. John Simmons

I think you may be right. But to be fair someone should ask Dymally why he assumed the girl was black. Perhaps he has a reasonable explanation? Even if he does I'm still confused by the comments he made after he found out that the girl was white.
